Protomartyr is an American rock band formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 2010. The band consists of Joe Casey, Greg Ahee, Alex Leonard, and Scott Davidson. They have been described as "one of the most consistent and critically acclaimed post-punk groups of the past decade." Their music has been praised for its intensity and lyrical content which often touches on themes such as death, destruction, and existentialism. The Protomartyr band debut album, No Passion All Technique was released in 2012 to critical acclaim and earned them a spot on Pitchfork's list of Best New Music. Since then they've released four additional studio albums: Under Color of Official Right (2014), The Agent Intellect (2015), Relatives in Descent (2017), and Ultimate Success Today (2020).
