Pedro the Lion is an American indie-rock band formed in Seattle, Washington by singer and songwriter David Bazan in 1995. The band has released five studio albums, two live albums, and two EPs since their formation. Their debut album, It's Hard to Find a Friend (1998), was a critical and commercial success. In 2000 they released their second album Winners Never Quit which included the hit single "Big Trucks". Pedro the Lion went on to release three more albums: Control (2002), Achilles Heel (2004), and Phoenix (2019). The band has been praised for its lyrics which explore themes of faith, family, relationships, and morality. Bazan's songwriting has been described as "introspective" and "emotionally charged," often depicting characters struggling with personal issues such as addiction or depression. They have also received praise for their unique sound which combines elements of indie rock, folk-rock, post-punk, and emo.
