Opus Kink emerged from the underground metal scene in 2012, combining industrial, stoner doom, and dark experimental sounds. The band was formed in Berlin by lead vocalist Max Reiner and guitarist Lena Falk, who were influenced by early heavy metal, gothic rock, and electronic experimentation. Their debut EP, Shadows of the Veil (2014), featured a daring fusion of haunting melodies and crushing riffs, earning them attention in local clubs and at European festivals.

Obsidian Hearts (2017), the band's first full-length album, debuted in the German rock top 50 and earned appearances at Wacken Open Air (2018) and Roadburn Festival (2019).
