Kikagaku Moyo are a Japanese psychedelic band founded in Tokyo. The band consists of Go Kurosawa, Tomo Katsurada, Daoud Popal, Kotsuguy and Ryu Kurosawa. Kikagaku Moyo means "geometric patterns" in Japanese. The band's music is influenced by traditional Japanese music, Western psychedelic rock and Indian classical music. Kikagaku Moyo was formed in 2012 by Go Kurosawa and Tomo Katsurada. The two had met while studying at the Tokyo University of the Arts and shared a love of psychedelic music. They were soon joined by Daoud Popal, Kotsuguy and Ryu Kurosawa. The band released their debut album, Forest of Lost Children, in 2013. The album was well-received by critics and drew comparisons to artists such as Spacemen 3 and Bardo Pond. Kikagaku Moyo's music is characterized by its use of extended jams, drones and feedback. The band's live performances are often improvisational and aim to create a "transcendental experience" for the listener. Kikagaku Moyo have toured extensively throughout Asia, Europe and North America. In 2016, the band released their second album, House in the Tall Grass, to critical acclaim.
