Khruangbin is a psychedelic Texas-based music trio formed in 2014. The group consists of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums. They are best known for their unique blend of traditional Thai funk music with soul, R&B, surf rock, and psychedelia. Khruangbin has achieved wide success in the underground music scene since they released their debut album The Universe Smiles Upon You in 2015. The album was praised by critics and fans alike for its innovative sound and ethereal atmosphere. The band's second album Con Todo El Mundo was released in 2018 to critical acclaim. It featured a mix of genres from funk to jazz and reggae to hip-hop. The record featured guest appearances from American singer Leon Bridges and Sudanese-British singer Miena amongst others. To date, Khruangbin has played numerous live shows across the globe from London's David Lynch Presents series at The Roundhouse to a sold-out show at New York's Prospect Park Bandshell.
In 2019 they headlined at major festivals such as Coachella and Primavera Sound Festival as well as gracing the stages of Glastonbury Festival twice during their remarkable career so far. Khruangbin also has several extended plays under their name including the very popular Christmas Time Is Here EP which featured covers of holiday classics like “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” by Bruce Springsteen and “Jingle Bells” by Vince Guaraldi Trio.
