Hootie & the Blowfish is an American rock band from Columbia, South Carolina. Formed in 1986, their 1996 debut album Cracked Rear View sold over 16 million copies and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. The group’s original lineup included four members: Darius Rucker (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mark Bryan (lead guitar), Dean Felber (bass), and Jim “Soni” Sonefeld (drums). The group achieved immense success with their first two albums, which featured a mix of pop-, blues-, soul- and country-influenced songs. Hootie and The Blowfish songs such as “Hold My Hand”, “Let Her Cry” and “Time” were all major hits on both sides of the Atlantic, giving them international recognition.
