Everclear is an American rock band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1991. The band is best known for their hit songs "Santa Monica" (1992) and "Father of Mine" (1998). Lead singer Art Alexakis has been the only constant member of the band. The band searched for a major label deal throughout the majority of 1994. Gary Gersh, who also brought Counting Crows, Sonic Youth, and Nirvana to DGC Records, won a little bidding battle and secured their deal to Capitol Records. The band's debut album, Sparkle and Fade, was released on May 15, 1995. The first single "Heroes" received airplay on alternative rock radio stations. The album ultimately sold over one million copies in the United States and was certified platinum by the RIAA. A second single, "Heartfarmer," was also released and peaked at number 33 on the Mainstream Rock charts. Sparkle and Fade went on to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 1996. In support of the album, Everclear embarked on their first headlining tour, which featured future members of the band Jimmy Tamborello and Greg Eklund. The tour also featured opening acts That Dog and Nada Surf. After the tour, Everclear took a brief break before returning to the studio in early 1996 to begin work on their second album, So Much for the Afterglow. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with Rich Breen serving as producer. It was released on October 8, 1996, and features the singles "Everything to Everyone," "I Will Buy You a New Life," and "One Hit Wonder." The album was certified double platinum in the United States. In support of the album, Everclear embarked on an extensive world tour that lasted for over a year. The band also performed on Saturday Night Live, making them the first band since Nirvana to perform on the show twice in one year. After the tour, Art Alexakis entered rehab for heroin addiction. He would later write about his experience in the song "The Twistinside." In 1999, Everclear released their third album, Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How to Smile. The album was inspired by Alexakis' experiences growing up in Portland, Oregon. It features the singles "Wonderful" and "Volvo Driving Soccer Mom." The second volume of Songs from an American Movie, Good Time for a Bad Attitude, was released in 2000. The album was not as successful as its predecessor, but still managed to be certified gold in the United States. After the release of the album, Everclear took another hiatus. Art Alexakis released a solo album, Slow Motion Daydream, in 2003. The following year, he formed a new band, Chester French. In 2007, Everclear announced that they were reforming and working on a new album. The album, entitled Invisible Stars, was released on May 22, 2012. Everclear is currently composed of Art Alexakis (vocals, guitar), Dave French (guitar), Freddy Herrera (bass), and Josh Crawley (keyboards). The band continues to tour and perform their hits for fans all over the world. Everclear tickets are on sale now at Yadara! We have the best selection of Everclear tickets at the best prices.
