Arkells is a Canadian alternative rock band from Hamilton, Ontario. Formed in 2006, their music draws from the genres of pop, soul, and indie rock with members Max Kerman (vocals/guitar), Mike DeAngelis (guitar), Nick Dika (bass), and Tim Oxford (drums). The band released their debut album Jackson Square in 2008 which spawned the hit singles "Oh, The Boss Is Coming!" and "Knickers". The following year saw Arkells go on tour for the first time, performing alongside acts like Sam Roberts, Matt Mays & The Congregation, and Metric. This resulted in them touring all across Canada before visiting the U.S. and playing Arkells shows at festivals such as Vans Warped Tour 2010. During this period they also worked on their self-titled sophomore album before releasing it to positive reviews in 2011.
Continuing to tour throughout 2011-2012, they later released their third album Michigan Left in 2012 which featured tracks like "Whistleblower" and "Leather Jacket". With five studio Arkells albums under their belt, Arkells has achieved great success over the years consistently selling out shows both internationally & nationally while having multiple number-one singles across various radio stations across Canada such as CBC Radio One & Virgin Radio Toronto. They have also won numerous awards including Juno Awards for Group of The Year three years running (2011-2013) as well as winning Rock Album of The Year at the 2019 Juno Awards for their latest project Rally Cry. It has been 14 years since Arkells formed yet they continue to be one of Canada’s most beloved bands selling out shows around the world while creating critically acclaimed music.
