The Gielgud Theatre is one of London's three most celebrated theatres, and has been a West End landmark for more than a century. The Gielgud Theatre was built in 1906 and opened its doors to the public on 27th April 1907. Designed by W.G.R. Sprague, the Gielgud Theatre was originally named the Globe Theatre, and was one of the first theatres to be built with a revolving stage. The Gielgud Theatre has a capacity of 1,611 seats, making it the third largest theatre in the West End. The Gielgud Theatre is currently owned by Delfont Mackintosh Theatres and is managed by Nimax Theatres. The Gielgud Theatre has been home to some of London's most celebrated productions, including 'Les Misérables', 'The Phantom of the Opera' and 'The Lion King'.
