  • Located in the Kanata suburb of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is a dynamic multi-purpose arena known as Canadian Tire Centre (or Centre Canadian Tire). January of 1996 marked the grand opening of the Palladium, later to be known as Centre Corel from '96 until 2006, and Place Banque Scotia for seven years after that. This venue can accommodate up to 19,347 people in seating. Since 1996, the arena has been a premier spot to watch ice hockey - serving as the home venue of the Ottawa Senators of NHL and temporarily welcoming Ottawa 67's during renovations at their original stadium. The arena is renowned for its use in music performances, as well as numerous prestigious events like the Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's basketball tournament and the 2009 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. After 18 months of construction, the Palladium was finally completed in January 1996. On the 15th of that same month, Bryan Adams graced the grand opening with a stunning performance. Two days after the National Hockey League was established, the Montreal Canadiens kicked off their inaugural season in style by trouncing the Ottawa Senators 3–0. On February 17th, 1996 the Corel Centre (or Centre Corel in French) was born when Ottawa software company, Corel Corporation signed a 10-year naming rights agreement. This replaced the original name of Palladium as it is now known today. Scotiabank Place welcomed the 2012 NHL All-Star Game with a brand new high-definition scoreboard in attendance. From 2012 through 2014, the arena was also a temporary home for the Ottawa 67's due to renovations occurring at TD Place Arena. Hosting both ice hockey and basketball matches frequently, the arena is equipped with all the necessary facilities to ensure an enjoyable experience. In addition, the arena was home to numerous indoor lacrosse matches. The arena can transform its seating setup for concerts, ranging from full-arena to half-arena arrangements. This building boasts six restaurants, as well as a fully-equipped fitness club for the health-conscious. World-renowned and beloved entertainers such as AC/DC, Alanis Morissette, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Ariana Grande, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Kenny Chesney, Coldplay, The Eagles, Foo Fighters, Genesis, Green Day, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, The Tragically Hip, Shania Twain, Shawn Mendes, U2, Carrie Underwood, Van Halen, Elton John, Kiss, Iron Maiden, Lady Gaga, Tina Turner, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Metallica, Motley Crue, Nickelback have all graced the venue with their presence. Music aficionados have been flocking to the venue for years, as it has hosted some of the most iconic performances from legendary artists such as One Direction, Our Lady Peace, Pearl Jam, Katy Perry, and Prince. Other renowned performers who have graced this stage include Rihanna, Roger Waters, and Rush alongside modern megastars Ed Sheeran and Britney Spears. Fans were also treated to multiple shows by Celine Dion, Fleetwood Mac, and Cher in addition to unforgettable live sets by Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, The Weeknd, and Neil Young! Some of the upcoming events and games at the venue are Thomas Rhett, Detroit Red Wings at Ottawa Senators, Disney On Ice: Find Your Hero, Journey with Toto, Harlem Globetrotters, Kevin Hart, Lee Brice, Monster Spectacular, Cirque du Soleil - Corteo, and more.
