In 2008, the Democratic National Convention was hosted in the arena and concluded with Senator Barack Obama's nomination as the Democrat candidate for president. It marked an important moment in history – one that signaled a shift away from traditional politics towards progress and change. Subsequently, the grand finale of the convention which included Barack Obama's acceptance speech took place at Invesco Field at Mile High.
