The Ripple, The Wave That Carried Me Home is written by Tony Award-nominated playwright Christina Anderson, this gorgeous play was just selected as the winner of the coveted Horton Foote Prize!
Janice has to come to terms with the upbringing she's tried to distance herself from and forget—one marked by her parents' political activism and battle for the integration of their neighborhood swimming pools—when she is forced to go back to her hometown and speak at a ceremony honoring her father. This extraordinarily touching tale examines the joys and difficulties of forgiving others, the need of justice, and the weight of one's familial legacy by drawing on historical events that range from the 1930s segregation to the Rodney King trial and beyond.
American playwright Christina Anderson also works as a teacher. Her plays Good Goods and Inked Baby are her two most well-known works. Her work has won numerous accolades and awards, including the Lorraine Hansberry Award and two Playwrights of New York (PoNY) nominations. Anderson is a Resident Playwright at the theater for social justice Epic Theatre Ensemble and the group New Dramatists. She has held positions as the temporary Head of Playwriting at Brown University and Assistant Professor of Playwriting at Purchase College.
