Each year, the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach, California hosts an extraordinary event known as the Pageant of the Masters. To reduce the time spent by individual volunteers on elaborate costumes and makeup, the Pageant has come up with a clever solution - they have two full casts known as Blue and Green that rotate back and forth. This way, both sets of performers can enjoy all the benefits without having to invest too much in terms of their volunteer hours. The Festival of Arts was proudly presented for the first time in 1932, followed by the inaugural performance of its renowned Pageant a year later in 1933. Since then, the two events have been taking place annually during summertime; this being disrupted for four years by World War II and in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
