Written by playwright and author Ann-Marie MacDonald, the show tells the story of four generations of MacLeod sisters living in small-town Cape Breton. The original production opened on October 26th at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada, and starred Tara Price as Mary, Laura Condlln as Jenny, Sarah Orenstein as Katie, and Susan Coyne as Mrs. MacKenzie. It went on to receive a record eight Dora Mavor Moore Awards including Outstanding Production and Outstanding New Play. Since its humble beginnings, Fall On Your Knees has gone on to be staged across Canada including cities such as Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, and Saskatoon. The show has had multiple runs at city theatres such as Factory Theatre in Toronto and Centaur Theatre Company in Montreal and was even featured at the Shaw Festival summer 2006 season.
