In 2016, Michael John LaChiusa wrote a new version of the musical which opened Off-Broadway at The Duke on 42nd Street Theater. This production starred Sutton Foster as Queenie and Steven Pasquale as Burrs and earned five Drama Desk Award nominations including Outstanding Musical Revival. In 2017, The Wild Party made its Broadway debut with an all-star cast featuring Tony Award winners James Monroe Iglehart (Burrs) and Jessie Mueller (Queenie). This production received five Tony Award nominations including Best Revival of a Musical. In 2019, another new version was created for the New York City Center Encores! Series. This production featured Raul Esparza as Burrs alongside Solea Pfeiffer (Queenie). It was directed by Leigh Silverman with choreography by Sonya Tayeh and won an Obie Award for Best Ensemble Performance.
