Lizzie the Musical is an award-winning rock musical that brings to life the story of Lizzie Borden. The musical was written by Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer, Tim Maner, and Alan Stevens Hewitt. It debuted at the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival and has since gone on to become a fan favorite around the world. The show tells the story of Lizzie Borden, who was accused of murdering her father and stepmother in 1892. The musical explores themes such as justice, revenge, guilt, and female empowerment through its powerful music, lyrics, and performances. The original production starred Christina Sajous as Lizzie Borden and was directed by John Simpkins. Since then, it has been performed at numerous venues across the United States including TheaterWorks Hartford in Connecticut, La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in California, and The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. In 2019 it was adapted into a film starring Chloë Sevigny as Lizzie Borden with Kristen Stewart playing her sister Emma.
In 2021 Lizzie the Musical released their debut album which includes songs from all three versions of the show: Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording; Film Soundtrack; and London Cast Recording (original studio recording).
