Jose Llana is a Filipino-American singer and actor who has been performing on Broadway for over 20 years. He is best known for his roles in the musicals The King and I, In The Heights, and Here Lies Love. Jose began his career as a child actor in Manila, Philippines, before moving to New York City to pursue a career in theater. Since then, he has starred in numerous Broadway productions such as Miss Saigon, Flower Drum Song, and Rent. His performance in The King and I earned him an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical. In addition to his stage work, Jose also had a recurring role on the television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In 2008, he took part in the Off-Broadway production of In The Heights which was nominated for 13 Tony Awards and won four of them including Best Musical. As part of the cast of this show, Jose received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. He also went on to star in another Off-Broadway show called Here Lies Love which was written by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim. This musical tells the story of Imelda Marcos and her rise to power in the Philippines. For his performance in this show, Jose was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical as well as Drama Desk Awards for both Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical and Outstanding Solo Performance by an Actor or Actress.
