Wild 'N Out is an American sketch comedy and improv game show series that was created and is hosted by musician and comedian Nick Cannon currently airing on VH1. It was produced by Cannon's production company Ncredible Entertainment. The series premiered on Julle 11, 2005, on MTV and aired on MTV2 from 2013 to 2016. In November 2012, VH1 announced that the series would be returning in 2013 after a six-year hiatus.
The show features Cannon and a rotating cast of other comedians and celebrities. The skits are aimed towards a young African American demographic and frequently parody hip hop culture and street gangs. The sketch comedy relates to real-life situations.
After four seasons, the show was put on hiatus in 2009. It was brought back in 2013 with a new cast and new logo. The show has been renewed for a fourteenth season, which will premiere on February 7, 2019.
In January 2019, it was announced that Cannon had decided to leave the show after 14 years. It is currently unclear if he will be replaced as host or if the show will continue without him.
Similar in premise to shows such as Whose Line Is It Anyway?, the series puts two teams of comedians against each other in a series of improv games. The teams are the "Red Squad", which was the team led by Cannon and generally features the show's up-and-coming talent, and the "Black Squad", which featured veteran performers and guest celebrities.
Each episode would generally feature four or five games, with each game given a time limit. The games are designed to test the teams' improvisational and comedy skills.
The winner of each game earns points for their team, with the losing team being penalized in some way, such as being required to wear embarrassing costumes or perform degrading tasks. The team with the most points at the end of the episode wins.
In some episodes, the teams would compete in a "wild style battle", in which they would freestyle rap about each other. The losing team would be required to perform a physical challenge, such as playing dodgeball against the winning team or being pelted with water balloons.
