Tom Papa is an American comedian, actor, writer, and television/radio host who has been performing stand-up comedy for more than twenty years. He is perhaps best known for his role as Frank The Repairman in the ABC sitcom The King of Queens (1998-2007). Papa was born in Westfield, New Jersey on August 19, 1968. As a teenager, he began performing at open mics near his hometown and soon moved on to professional gigs at popular clubs around the country. After college, he performed regularly at clubs including New York's Catch A Rising Star, Los Angeles' The Comedy Store, and San Francisco's Comedy Store. Papa's first big break came when he was featured in a Budweiser commercial that aired during Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004.
From that point on, he became a nationally recognized headliner touring extensively all over the world. His TV appearances include multiple appearances on late-night shows such as Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Papa has also starred in two Comedy Central specials; 2004’s Tom Papa: Live In New York City and 2007’s Tom Papa: Freaked Out. Additionally, he hosted the NBC game show “The Marriage Ref” (2010-11) and currently hosts Sirius XM Radio’s Come to Papa show. In addition to his acting and stand-up comedy work, Papa has published several books including 2011’s Your Dad Stole My Rake which was named one of Amazon’s 10 Funniest Books Of 2011.
He is also the author of two children’s books; 2014’s Farley Farts A Lot and 2016’s Farley Goes To The Beach both illustrated by wonderful artist Christina Matthiesen. His first comedic cookbook entitled Tom Papa You're Doing Great And Other Reasons To Stay Alive was released in June 2020 by Grand Central Publishing. Tom continues to tour regularly performing both solo stand-up shows as well as Tom Papa shows with fellow comedians like Brian Regan and Jim Gaffigan whom he frequently opens for around the United States. He additionally still records regular episodes of Come To Papa with some of today's funniest comedians from all over the world from his home studio in Los Angeles - giving listeners an intimate glimpse into the lives of these entertainers.
