He has performed stand-up comedy on television shows including Seinfeld, MADtv and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He has also written for the sitcoms 3rd Rock from the Sun and Will & Grace. Scott was born in San Francisco, California, the son of Sheila, a customer service representative, and Joseph Capurro, a milkman. He is of Italian descent. He has two older sisters, Tricia and Gina. Scott began doing stand-up comedy in the early 1980s. He has appeared on numerous television shows, including Seinfeld, MADtv, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Politically Incorrect, and Chelsea Lately. In 1994 he was awarded the Perrier Award for best newcomer at the Edinburgh Festival. Scott has also written for the sitcoms 3rd Rock from the Sun and Will & Grace. He has appeared in the films The Aristocrats, Get Hard, and Rat Race. Scott is openly gay and has been in a relationship with his partner, Michael Purdy, for over 20 years. They have two children together, twins born in 2006.
