A series of genital contortions are performed in the humorous live performance-art show Puppetry of the Penis. The exhibition was initially intended to be the name of a sophisticated art calendar that Australian Simon Morley published in 1996. The twelve penis "installations" on the calendar (the manipulation of male genitalia into a variety of recognisable forms). In 1997, Morley collaborated with fellow Australian David "Friendy" Friend to create a performance event that featured body-based genital humour in response to the growing demand for live demonstrations.
Two naked males who perform the show bend, twist, and fold their penises and scrotums into different positions. Since then, the hilarious narrative and dramatic male genitalia contortion have become a global phenomenon.
