Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais is a Canadian comedian, actor, and writer who has been performing for over two decades. He is best known for his standup comedy routines, which often incorporate elements of music and storytelling. His career began in the early 2000s when he started performing at open mic nights in Montreal. After gaining recognition from local audiences, he made his television debut on CBC’s Just For Laughs in 2003. Since then, he has gone on to appear on numerous shows including The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos and The Comedy Network’s Battle of the Blades. In 2006, Pierre-Yves released his first album “Laugh Out Loud” which was nominated for Best Comedy Album at the Juno Awards. These albums cemented his status as one of Canada’s top comedians and helped him gain international recognition. In addition to standup comedy, Pierre-Yves also starred in several films such as “Lemaire et les autres” (2007), “The Grand Seduction” (2013), and “The Trotsky” (2015). He also wrote a play called “La Vie en Rose et Noir” which was performed at the Montreal Fringe Festival in 2009. Pierre-Yves continues to perform around the world and will be embarking on an extensive tour in 2023 that includes stops in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. This tour will feature all new material including hilarious anecdotes about his personal life as well as topical observations about current events.
