Based in Los Angeles, Mark Moshe Kasher is an American stand-up comedian and actor who writes comedy material. He was a staff writer and sketch performer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! from 2004 to 2013, and has also written for The New Yorker, GQ, and Grantland. Kasher currently writes for the Netflix original series American Vandal.
Kasher was born in Teaneck, New Jersey to Jewish parents. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1996 with a B.A. in English. He is the brother of screenwriter and director Jesse Kasher.
Kasher has appeared on several late-night talk shows, including Conan, Chelsea Lately, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He has also appeared on Comedy Central's Tosh.0, as well as the IFC series The Birthday Boys.
Kasher has released two stand-up comedy albums, Everyone You Know Will Die and Other Truths from 2006, and Casherized from 2011. His first book, Theasis, was published in 2013.
In 2016, Kasher directed his first feature film, the comedy drama Other People, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. The film was acquired by Netflix and released in September 2016.
Kasher is a member of the writing staff for the HBO comedy series Crashing, created by and starring Pete Holmes. The show's second season premiered in January 2018.
