Miriam Margolyes OBE is a British-Australian actress who has been gracing the stage and screen for decades. Born in Oxford, England, she graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in English Literature before beginning her acting career at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Throughout her long and illustrious career, Miriam has won numerous awards including an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Cherry Orchard (1982) as well as multiple BAFTA Awards for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She was also awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2008 for her services to drama. Miriam's extensive filmography includes roles in Harry Potter, Blackadder, Little Britain, and much more. Her most recent work includes voicing the character of Miss Price in the 2020 Disney animated feature film Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway. She also starred alongside Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Judi Dench in the 2019 movie Cats. In addition to film and television roles, Miriam has appeared on stage at many venues across London's West End such as the National Theatre, Globe Theatre, and Haymarket Theatre Royal. In 2020 she performed solo shows at both Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Brighton Fringe Festival where she received critical acclaim for her performances. In 2021 Miriam was cast as one of the lead characters in a new musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox which will be premiering at Sadler's Wells theatre this summer. This production follows on from other successes such as her appearances in productions like The Seagull (2018), The Ladykillers (2017), and Waiting For Godot (2016). As well as appearing on stage, Miriam is also an accomplished radio presenter having hosted BBC Radio 4’s show ‘Word Of Mouth’ between 1999-2011 which earned her multiple Sony Awards during its run.
