Annette "Leslie" Jones is an American stand-up comedian, actress, writer, singer, and game show host. She is best known for her appearances on Saturday Night Live (SNL) from 2014 to 2019 as a cast member and writer. Jones has also appeared in films such as Ghostbusters (2016), Masterminds (2016), and The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019). Jones began her career in comedy by performing at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles. After appearing on the television shows Last Comic Standing and Premium Blend, she was invited to audition for SNL in 2013. She joined the cast of SNL in 2014, becoming the first African-American female cast member since Maya Rudolph left the show in 2007. During her time on SNL, Jones was nominated for two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. In addition to her work on SNL, she has also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Late Night with Seth Meyers. Jones's film career started with small roles in films like Top Five (2014) and Trainwreck (2015). She rose to prominence after being cast as Patty Tolan in the 2016 reboot of Ghostbusters.
Her performance received critical acclaim and earned her an MTV Movie Award nomination for Best Comedic Performance. Jones went on to star alongside Zach Galifianakis in Masterminds (2016) and voiced Debbie Eagleclaw in The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019). In 2020, Jones became a contestant on season 29 of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars. She finished second place alongside pro partner Brandon Armstrong. Later that year, she began hosting Supermarket Sweep for ABC which premiered on October 18th, 2020. This past February 2021, Leslie starred alongside Keegan-Michael Key and Tiffany Haddish as part of the ensemble cast of Netflix’s They Cloned Tyrone movie directed by Jorma Taccone; it was released May 14th, 2021. 2023 brings more exciting projects for Leslie including filming her hour-long stand-up special for Netflix which will be filmed this summer; she is currently developing a half-hour comedy series at HBO Max which she will executive produce; plus she is set to return as host of Supermarket Sweep season 3 this fall 2021! Fans can also look forward to seeing Leslie back onstage at various comedy venues around the country later this year along with some surprise appearances throughout 2023!
