Kurt Metzger is an American stand-up comedian, screenwriter and actor. He is best known as the creator and head writer of Inside Amy Schumer, as well as for his appearances on Premium Blend and Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.
Metzger was born in The Bronx, New York City, and raised in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey. He attended Morris Catholic High School. After graduation, he attended Rutgers University on a full scholarship, but dropped out after one semester. He then worked as a stand-up comedian in New York City.
Despite spending most of his early career in the Philadelphia region, Metzger began his stand-up career at The Stress Factory in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He then appeared in the comedy clubs of New York City. In addition to his work on television, Metzger has also written for several publications, including Vice, Reductress, and some of his own blogs.
In 2016, it was announced that Metzger would be a writer and producer on the upcoming TBS sitcom Search Party. In February 2017, he was hired as a consulting producer for the new Comedy Central series The President Show.
Metzger is known for his dark and offensive humor. In 2011, he was listed as one of Splitsider's "10 Comedians Who Will Offend You". He has been criticized for making rape jokes, and has responded by saying that he is not a rape apologist and that his jokes are intended to draw attention to the issue of rape culture.
