Jenny Sarah Slate is an actress, comedian, and author from America. She was born on March 25th, 1982. She is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. She has a sister named Abby who is two years younger than her. Slate attended a Girl Scout camp for two summers while growing up in Milton, Massachusetts. She was a camper and then a counselor at Camp Akeela in Wisconsin. Slate graduated from Milton Academy in 2000 and then attended Columbia University, where she majored in English and American Literature. After college, she worked as an intern on the writing staff of Saturday Night Live but was not hired as a writer. Slate made her acting debut in the 2006 film Aquamarine. She has also appeared in other films and television shows such as Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, Bored to Death, Parks and Recreation, Big Mouth, and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. Slate has been nominated for several awards throughout her career including an Emmy Award, a Critics' Choice Television Award, and a Golden Globe Award. She won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the film Obvious Child in 2014.
