Antoine DeRay Davis is an American stand-up comedian and actor. He has starred in his own sitcom, Lopez Tonight. He is currently a cast member on the CBS sitcom, Mom. Davis was born in Denver, Colorado, and raised in Long Beach, California. His father was a professional boxer and his mother was a homemaker. Davis began performing stand-up comedy while attending community college. He later attended California State University, Long Beach. After graduation, Davis worked as a stand-up comedian in Los Angeles. He won the Comedy Central Laugh Riots Competition soon after relocating to Los Angeles and performed on the Cedric the Entertainer Tour. In 2002, Davis made his television debut on the show, The Bernie Mac Show. In 2007, Davis starred in his own sitcom on TBS, Lopez Tonight. The show ran for two seasons and was canceled in 2011. Davis has also appeared in films such as Friday After Next, Transformers, and Horrible Bosses 2.
He also stars on the CBS sitcom, Mom. The comedian also contributed to several skits on rapper Kanye West's albums The College Dropout and Late Registration, playing the lead of the fictitious fraternity "Broke Phi Broke" and impersonating Bernie Mac in the former album's opening track "Intro" Davis also appeared in West's music video for "Through the Wire." Other music videos Davis has appeared in include Lil' Flip's "Game Over (Flip)," and Chris Brown's "Yo. Deray Davis’s touring experience is extensive. Amongst the hundreds of venues he has performed at are the Apollo Theater in Harlem, Joe's Bar & Grill on Weed Street in Chicago, Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut, CSU Wolstein Convocation Center in Cleveland, Ohio, and Largo at the Coronet Theatre in Los Angeles. Through the years Deray Davis has also made a name for himself as an actor.
Aside from comedic roles, Deray Davis also made appearances opposite Denzel Washington in the movie Antwone Fisher (2002) and alongside Cuba Gooding Jr., Ice Cube, and Terrence Howard in Barbershop 2: Back In Business (2004). He provides voice work for the animated series Futurama (2013) as well as playing Ike Staxx on “Barbershop: The Series” (2005). He also did co-host the game show “Face Value”. He was a judge on “Lip Sync Battle Shorties” (2017) and hosted his own series of comedy specials on Showtime titled Deray Davis: How To Act Black (2017). He then went on to star alongside Tracy Morgan in “The Last O.G” (2018). He starred in the movie Welcome to Sudden Death alongside Michael Jai White. Davis has performed at several major comedy festivals including Just For Laughs Festival, Comedy Central's South Beach Festival, and NBC Universal's Stand-Up for Diversity.
