Chappelle began his film career in 1993 as Ahchoo in Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men in Tights. He also had a small role in the 1997 film Con Air and a supporting role in 1998's Half Baked. In 1999, he wrote and starred in his first film, Blue Streak. In 2000, Chappelle played Ezekiel "Zeke" Figueroa in the buddy cop comedy The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. In 2001, he had a supporting role in Spike Lee's heist film Inside Man. In 2004, he starred in the comedy film Dave Chappelle's Block Party. In 2003, he debuted his eponymous sketch comedy series, Chappelle's Show, on Comedy Central. The show ran for two seasons until its abrupt cancellation in 2005. He has since appeared in several films and television shows, including the 2006 comedy film Dave Chappelle's Block Party, the 2008 comedy film For What It's Worth, and the 2009 comedy-drama film Precious.
In 2016, he signed a $20 million deal with Netflix for two stand-up comedy specials. Chappelle has been praised for his comedic style, which often incorporates socio-political commentary. Time magazine has called him "one of the greatest stand-up comics of all time." In 2017, Rolling Stone ranked him number nine on their list of the 50 best stand-up comedians of all time. David Khari Webber Chappelle was born on August 24, 1973, in Washington, D.C. His mother, Yvonne (née Reed), is a professor at Howard University, and his father, William David Chappelle III, worked as a statistician before becoming a professor at Prince George's Community College. He has two older brothers, William S. Chappelle and Charles "Chip" Chappelle, who is also a comedian and actor. He was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, and attended Woodlin Elementary School.
It was quite a surprise considering the previous year's inaugural event at Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena. The hosts, Dave Chappelle and Robert Glasper managed to violate the city's noise ordinance for two consecutive nights. This time, it appeared that both of them were determined to adhere to the rules. As the audience started to thin out, Chappelle playfully reminded everyone, "Remember to collect your trash before you leave so we can be welcomed back." His chuckle echoed through the room, creating a lighthearted atmosphere. "I kindly request everyone to maintain decorum and leave peacefully, as individuals are enjoying their wine outside."
