Dara Ó Briain is an Irish comedian, television presenter, and actor based in the United Kingdom. He is best known for his role as the host of Mock The Week, a popular British panel show that he has presented since 2005. His career began in 1995 when he became a regular on the Irish stand-up comedy circuit. In 1997, he released his first stand-up DVD entitled “Dara Ó Briain: Live at the Stand”. He quickly gained international recognition and went on to become one of Ireland's most successful comedians. In 2003, Ó Briain was chosen to be the host of BBC Two's flagship quiz show Have I Got News For You, becoming one of its longest-serving presenters. This increased his popularity and enabled him to tour extensively throughout Europe and North America. In 2007, he released his second stand-up DVD titled “Dara Ó Briain: Live at The Apollo” which was recorded at London's Hammersmith Apollo Theatre and earned him a nomination for Best Comedy Performance at the British Comedy Awards.
He has since gone on to star in several television shows such as Robot Wars (1998), The Panel (2003–2006), Dara O'Briain's Go 8 Bit (2016–2018), and Stargazing Live (2011–present). He has also hosted several live shows including The Apprentice: You're Fired! (2005–2008), Mock The Week (2005–present), and Dara O'Briain's Science Club (2012–2014). Additionally, Ó Briain has written four books; Tickling The English (2008), Voice Of Reason (2011), Crowd Tickler (2013), and Beyond The Skyline (2020). Throughout his career, Dara O'Briain has been recognized for his work with numerous awards including three BAFTA nominations for Best Entertainment Performance for Have I Got News For You in 2004 & 2005 and Best Entertainment Programme for Mock The Week in 2011 & 2012. Moreover, he won two British Comedy Awards for Best Male Television Comic in 2005 & 2006. Dara announced that he will embark on a new tour titled ‘Voice of Reason’ which will kick off this 2023!
