Corey Holcomb was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 23, 1968, the third of five children of Shirley Holcomb (née McKnight), a housewife, and Robert Holcomb, a construction worker. He was raised on the West Side of Chicago in the Austin neighborhood. He has three brothers and two sisters. His sister, LaWanda Holcomb-McClellan, is a stand-up comedian. Holcomb's comedy style is observational and often includes references to pop culture. He has been described as a "ghetto nerd" and "the black redneck." Holcomb hosted the Corey Holcomb 5150 Show, a syndicated radio Corey Holcomb comedy show, from 2011 to 2014. He currently hosts The Breakfast Club morning show on Power 105.1 in New York City. In 2017, Holcomb was featured in an episode of the Netflix series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, in which he and Jerry Seinfeld drove a 1963 Chevrolet Impala. In 2019, he was featured in an HBO series 2 Dope Queens episode. He has received numerous awards and acclaim for his work, including being voted "Best Stand-Up Comic in Los Angeles" by LA Weekly.
