Cedric Antonio Kyles better known by his stage name Cedric the Entertainer, is an American actor, stand-up comedian, and game show host. Kyles was born on April 24, 1964 in Jefferson City, Missouri, and raised in Caruthersville, Missouri.
He began his entertaining career as a comedian and actor during his high school years. Cedric the Entertainer first gained popularity as a cast member of the hit television show It's Showtime at the Apollo in the early 1990s. He has since gone on to star in numerous films and television shows including the Barbershop franchise, The Steve Harvey Show, Kings of Comedy tour, and his own sitcom Cedric the Entertainer Presents.
In 1995, Cedric moved into acting, auditioning for and receiving his first-ever role as The Cowardly Lion in the 1995 Apollo Theater Revival of The Wiz. Cedric's role in The Wiz was his breakout role and helped to launch his acting career.
In 2004, Cedric the Entertainer starred alongside Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac in the film Barbershop 2: Back in Business. The film was a box office success, grossing over $100 million worldwide.
