Brian Edmund Posehn is an American stand-up comedian, actor, voice actor, musician, and writer. He has appeared in numerous films and television shows. He played a recurring role as Hank on The Sarah Silverman Program from 2007 to 2010, and co-wrote the script for the 2013 film The World's End.
Posehn was born on July 6, 1966 in Sacramento, California. He grew up in Concord, California. His parents divorced when he was 18 years old. He is of German, Irish, and English descent.
Posehn began playing guitar at age 15. He started his comedy career in 1988 at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles. He has appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Howard Stern Show, Mr. Show, Just Shoot Me!, NewsRadio, Californication, Everybody Loves Raymond, Sex and the City, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Seinfeld. He had a recurring role as Brian Spukowski on The Big Bang Theory.
Posehn married Melanie Gilmore in 2004. They have two sons together. In October 2014, Posehn released his first album, The Fartist.
Posehn is a self-proclaimed "metalhead". He has made guest appearances on several metal albums. He appeared on the album Relapse Contamination by Cemetery Urn, and the album The Art of Partying by Municipal Waste. He also played guitar on the song "Metalocalypse" by Dethklok.
Posehn is a big fan of the comic book character Deadpool. He co-wrote the character's first ever solo comic book series, which was published by Marvel Comics in 1997. He also voiced the character in the video games Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Posehn has appeared in a number of movies, including The Devil's Rejects, Rob Zombie's Halloween II, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Dirty Love. He also wrote and starred in the 2006 independent film The Last Guy on Earth.
Posehn is also a musician. He has released two comedy albums, Live in: Nerd Rage and Fart and Wiener Jokes. He is a member of the bands United Resistance and The Posehn Brigade.
