About Midget Wrestling Warriors

A New York-based organization called The Midget Wrestling Warriors has been operating since 2014. The best wrestlers from the US, Canada, and Mexico are represented there.

Their goal is to provide 5'2" and under wrestlers with a professional wrestling organization where they can display their athleticism, talents, and passion, as well as to provide wrestling fans of all ages with a memorable wrestling experience.

Professional wrestling is a theatrical performance in which two performers stage a pre-planned fight. The "wrestlers", who are not actually fighting, take turns playing the role of the aggressor and the other wrestler plays the role of victim. The play is often a parody of real fighting and is choreographed to look like a fight while being safe for the wrestlers to perform.

In the United States, professional wrestling first emerged in the 19th century as a true competitive sport based on catch wrestling. Wrestlers started scripting the results of their matches around the turn of the century and pulling their punches to make them less physically demanding, shorter, and more entertaining. The wrestlers were able to perform more regularly, lower their risk of injury, and draw bigger crowds as a result. The wrestlers refused to acknowledge that their sport had transformed into theater, a practice known as kayfabe in America. Despite the fact that the majority of the spectators could tell that the combat was staged, they continued to support the facade. Real wrestling declined in popularity as professional wrestling rose in popularity. The business concept was copied in various nations, particularly successfully in Japan and Mexico.

Despite its scripted format, there are and have been many professional wrestlers throughout history who had prior experience in legitimate wrestling before switching to the theatrical form; perhaps the most notable of these is Kurt Angle, who is known as the first Olympic gold medalist in the history of professional wrestling after winning his gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, infamously while suffering from a broken neck. Although prior relevant experience is not a prerequisite for aspiring professional wrestlers, it is considered a positive trait.
