Atlanta United II is an American professional soccer team that competes in the USL Championship, the second tier of the US soccer pyramid. Founded in 2017, Atlanta United II has quickly become one of the most successful teams in its division and has already won two USL Championships. The team plays its home games at Fifth Third Bank Stadium located on the campus of Kennesaw State University. Over the years, Atlanta United II has developed several rivalries with other teams in their conference, including Charlotte Independence, Birmingham Legion FC, and Tampa Bay Rowdies. The team has also earned numerous awards throughout its history, including two USL Championship titles and three conference championships. The team boasts an impressive list of former players who went on to play professionally in MLS or abroad, including Andrew Carleton and Chris Goslin who both signed with Atlanta United’s senior squad. Glass has already made his mark on the program by leading them to a winning record in his first season as head coach and earning Coach of the Year honors from both USL Championship and United Soccer Coaches (USC). The team is led by some of soccer's top players such as forward Jackson Conway who was named All-League First Team last season after scoring 11 goals; midfielder Jack Metcalf who had five assists last season; defender AJ Cochran who captained the side last year; goalkeeper Paul Christensen who had 10 clean sheets; and forward Tyler Wolff who scored five goals last season. As they look ahead to the 2023 season, Atlanta United II will be looking to continue their success from recent years while also building on their rich history of excellence.
