About Reno Rodeo

The Reno Rodeo is a PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) sanctioned sporting event and non-profit organization made up of over 900+ volunteers. The “Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West” has been held annually since 1919, making it one of the oldest rodeos in the United States. It takes place at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center each June and features 10 days of competition in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. The Reno Rodeo also hosts several home games throughout the year including the Reno Rodeo Parade which takes place on the first Saturday of June each year. This parade draws thousands of spectators to downtown Reno to watch as floats and marching bands make their way down Virginia Street. The annual Reno Rodeo Queen Contest is also held at this time with contestants competing for scholarships and prizes. Reno Rodeo has several rivalries with other rodeos such as Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming and Pendleton Round-Up in Oregon.

These rivalries have been going on for decades and are a source of pride for both sides. The rodeo also awards several titles each year including All Around Cowboy/Cowgirl Champion, Bull Riding Champion, Bareback Riding Champion, and Barrel Racing Champion. The head coach of the Reno Rodeo is Mike Cervi Jr., who has been coaching since 2014. He is an eight-time world champion cowboy who brings a wealth of knowledge to his position as head coach. He works with all levels of riders from beginners to professionals to help them reach their goals in rodeo competitions. Some of the top players at Reno Rodeo include Trevor Brazile, Tuf Cooper, Clay O'Brien Cooper, and Jake Wright who have all won multiple world championships throughout their careers. These cowboys bring excitement to every performance they put on at the rodeo and are always pushing themselves to be better than before. Reno Rodeo continues to be one of the most popular events in Nevada each year with thousands attending from all around the world to witness some of the best cowboys compete for championship titles. With its long history dating back over 100 years it’s no wonder why this event continues to draw crowds from near and far every June!
