National Black Rodeo Finals is a traditional event. It has been around since the mid-1980s and was founded by a group of African American cowboys, cowgirls, and supporters. The event takes place annually in Oklahoma City and features rodeo events such as bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, calf roping, breakaway roping, ladies' barrel racing, and team roping. The National Black Rodeo Finals home games are held at the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City for three days every year with over 10 thousand cheering supporters attending each day. The award given out each year is the world champion buckle. This prestigious award is given to one cowboy and one cowgirl that manages to stay on their bronco or bull for 8 seconds without touching it with their free hand.
