Representing Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, the Colonials men's basketball team proudly stands as a symbol of excellence and commitment to high-quality athletics. The school's athletic program performs in the Horizon League and strives for excellence. Andrew Toole has been at the helm of the Colonials for eight seasons, making him the current head coach. After Coach Mike Rice Jr. had led the team to 73 wins over three years, it was time for a change, and Toole was hired as the new head coach. In 2010, he departed from the program to take on the position of head coach at Rutgers.
In 2015, the Colonials made a remarkable appearance in the NCAA Basketball Division I men's tournament and came out victorious against North Florida in the First Four. Sadly yet not surprisingly, they were ultimately defeated by Duke - who ended up seizing victory as National Champions that year- during the first round. Half a decade before, in the 2010 NCAA tournament, the 15th-seed Colonials almost pulled off an incredible victory against No. 9-ranked Villanova in the First Round. Sadly, they lost by just one point in overtime. The team made waves with a buzzer-beater upset of the 2012 National Champions and No. 1 seed, Kentucky, in the opening round of the 2013 National Invitation Tournament, as well as another monumental win against Big East powerhouse St. John's during the 2014 NIT first round.
