The esteemed Pacific Tigers men's basketball team proudly represents the University of the Pacific, a renowned NCAA Division I member and part of the prestigious West Coast Conference. The Stockton CA-based team is directed by head coach Leonard Perry and plays their home games at the prestigious Alex G. Spanos Center, a place of inspiration for them to continue being successful in every game. After almost 42 years of absence, Pacific proudly rejoined the West Coast Conference on July 15th, 2013. They had originally been a founding member of the WCC in 1952 before leaving to become part of the PCAA (later known as Big West) in 1971. In late 2015, investigations into the provision of illicit academic advantages to basketball players commenced. On December 11, the school suspended head coach Ron Verlin and assistant coach Dwight Young from their positions.
Last March 3, 2016, the college publicly announced that Verlin and Young had been dismissed from their positions. Two weeks later on March 15th of the same year, Pacific brought Damon Stoudamire on board as head coach. Over the years, they've been in multiple Sweet Sixteen tournaments. With 13 years in the NBA under his belt and a 1996 title of Rookie of the Year - this hire was sure to bring success. The team recorded a 14-18 NCAA Tournament. Pacific Tigers men's basketball 2022-2023 season is sure to be an electrifying one, with new coach Damon Stoudamire behind the helm.
