Even more remarkable are the five undefeated home court campaigns (1973, 1985, 2006, 2007, and 2010), while only four losing seasons have occurred there (1971, 1981, 1992 & 1995). According to Jeff Sagarin and ESPN, the program stands at a remarkable 12th place in their all-time rankings for college basketball, as noted in the ESPN College Basketball Encyclopedia. Under the guidance of Mike Brey, the Fighting Irish are currently making great strides. The team's success is remarkable, having advanced to the Final Four tournament once and Sweet Sixteen tournaments seventeen times across a span of 36 NCAA appearances.
