About Bellarmine Knights Basketball

Representing Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky is the triumphant men's basketball team: The Bellarmine Knights. The Knights are making headway in the ASUN Conference and pressing forward to their destination of NCAA Division I. For 47 years, our team competed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) until its last season in 2019-20. Scott Davenport currently guides the team as head coach, and they host their home games at Freedom Hall. Bellarmine's inaugural journey to the Division I level was a resounding success! Despite losing their first two ASUN conference matchups to Lipscomb, they refused to be deterred by the setbacks. The Knights sent a strong statement to their opponents with an impressive ten-game winning streak.

Boasting an unbeaten record on the road in conference play, they notched six victories with no losses. Bellarmine University was named one of the top four universities nationwide with the longest winning streak. The Knights' exemplary performance throughout the season resulted in their final game against Liberty being moved to ESPNU - a real winner-takes-all match for the regular-season conference championship. Bellarmine ended with a score of 94-78, yet they still managed to pull off an impressive sellout due to COVID safety protocols, with more than 2,700 fans in attendance. No NCAA Tournament or NIT selection for the Knights this season, but they were graciously extended an invitation to take part in the 2021 CBI Tournament. At Daytona Beach, Florida, Bellarmine emerged victorious in the quarterfinals of the tournament with a 77–67 win over Army.

Unfortunately, Pepperdine was able to overpower them in the semifinals by a score of 82-71. Despite being selected to finish last in the ASUN preseason rankings, Bellarmine made history by completing their inaugural Division I season with a 14–8 overall record and an impressive 10-3 mark in conference play that put them second on the leaderboard. Rejuvenating their program, they celebrated a remarkable Division I postseason victory - the first in school history. Pedro Bradshaw and Dylan Penn were both recognized for their remarkable seasons, with Pedro narrowly missing the ASUN Player of the Year title and earning a unanimous All-ASUN First Team selection. Similarly, Dylan was also awarded an All-ASUN First Team accolade. Rivals: North Alabama Lions. Game venues: Pete Mathews Coliseum in Jacksonville, Flowers Hall in Florence,
