The Florida Gators football program is the athletic program of the University of Florida (UF). The Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), also known as Division I, is one of four divisions in American college sports. They compete in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division and are members of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Their home games are played at Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on the university's Gainesville campus, nicknamed "The Swamp." The Florida Gators Football game has won three national championships and eight SEC titles in the 112-season history of their football program. The first two national championships were won in back-to-back seasons by head coach Steve Spurrier; Florida also won the third title in 2006 under head coach Urban Meyer. Florida has played in 52 bowl Florida Football games in its history, winning 32, including 27 in the last 30 years.
Florida Football is currently ranked fourth in all-time bowl victories, behind only Alabama, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma. They have also won 19 conference championships (13 SEC Championships—with a share of four titles not counting towards their total—and six Southern Conference titles) and have had seven players inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The University of Florida was a charter member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) when it was established in 1932 and is currently one of fourteen member institutions. Among them are Dann Wuerffel, Steve Spurrier, Jack Youngblood, Danny Wuerffel, Emmitt Smith, Percy Harvin, Cris Collinsworth, and Tim Tebow (who received a Heisman Trophy) - each of whom helped shape this team's legacy. Some of the well-known rivalries are Utah Utes Football, Georgia Bulldogs Football, LSU Tigers Football, and Tennessee Volunteers Football.
Florida football conducted its inaugural scrimmage of fall camp at The Swamp, as part of its preparations for the season opener against No. 14 Utah in 2023.
