The Colorado Buffaloes Football team was formed by the University of Colorado Boulder in 1890.  They are in the NCAA Division I FBS and the Pac-12 Conference.  At first, teams relied on rugged defense that performed well in the Rocky Mountain weather.  By teaching athletes how to run, pass, and play special teams, the program has made a lot of All-Americans and professional players throughout the years.  It also shows how much Colorado loves sports.

The Buffaloes have won a lot of conference titles, such the Big 12 title in 2001.  With coach Bill McCartney, they also won the national championship in 1990.  Rashaan Salaam, Scotty McKnight, and Kordell Stewart are all NFL stars who came from the program.  Folsom Field, which can hold 50,183 people, has staged entertaining games against teams like Nebraska, Oregon, and Arizona. Players made smart plays, set running records, and played excellent defense.
