About Boise State Broncos Football

The Boise State Broncos football program has been a beacon of success since its inception in 1933. The Broncos have played their Boise State Broncos Football home games at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho, since 1970. With a total attendance nearing 3 million fans, they have become one of the most recognizable programs in college football. Under current head coach Bryan Harsin, newly hired in 2014, the Broncos have continued to maintain their winning tradition and develop into a powerhouse program. Throughout its history, numerous accomplishments have stood out as defining moments for the program. In 1980 the Boise State Broncos Football team won its first conference championship as an NCAA Division 1-A team and followed up with back-to-back titles in 1984 and 1985.

The Broncos participated in their first bowl game in 1996 and went on to win five straight bowl games from 2006-10 before falling to TCU in what was then known as the Poinsettia Bowl. They also reached eight total Boise State Broncos Football games between 2000 and 2013 which put them amongst some of the elite teams in college football during that stretch. One rival that has been especially competitive throughout the years is Fresno State University. This storied rivalry began back in 1969 when both teams joined forces to form the Big Sky Conference and have gone on to play 35 times since then. Boise State holds an edge over Fresno with a record of 21-14 but this matchup always proves to be entertaining no matter who comes out on top. The current head coach Bryan Harsin boasts an impressive career resume that includes coaching stops at Arkansas State, Texas Tech, and Auburn.

After coming on board he led his squad to 9 wins or more in his first four seasons while earning 3rd place finishes or better in his conference each year as well as making two New Year Six bowl appearances with victories against Baylor (Fiesta Bowl) and Arizona (Cactus Bowl). When the Boise State Broncos (0-1) take the field against the UCF Knights (1-0) in September 2023 as 3.5-point underdogs, they will attempt to beat the odds. The overall score for the contest is 60.5. Due to their top-25 rankings in both scoring offense (ninth best with 56 points per game) and scoring defense (thirteenth best with 6 points allowed per game), UCF has proven to be a difficult opponent for rival teams. Boise State ranks 98th in terms of points scored per game (19), but it has performed worse on defense, allowing 56 points per game every game, eighth worst in the FBS.
