Representing West Virginia University in NCAA Division I college basketball, the Mountaineers men's basketball team proudly takes the court for all of their competitors. Boasting membership in the esteemed Big 12 Conference, they are a proud part of one of the collegiate sports' most successful leagues. Bob Huggins stands at the helm of this team, having been head coach since 2007. WVU plays its home games at the WVU Coliseum, its home court since the 70s. With its capacity of over 14,000 spectators, the WVU Coliseum is considered one of the largest and loudest arenas in college basketball. The Mountaineers are also a force to be reckoned with off the court. The team boasts numerous academic achievements amongst its players, including several members who have earned degrees from West Virginia University. The initial starting five of Nichols, Ruoff, Young, Alexander, and Summers commanded the court with authority yet all other players were given considerable playing time as well; including forward Da'Sean Butler who came in off the bench.
