The DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball program is an NCAA Division I intercollegiate team of the prestigious DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. The highly skilled team proudly competes in the Big East Conference and home games at Wintrust Arena located at McCormick Place convention center on Chicago's Near South Side. For a time, the Blue Demons have been on top of their game and made it to the Final Four twice in NCAA Tournament history. Unfortunately, with an all-time record standing at 0-2 in these appearances, they had not yet been able to secure victory from them. Since 1923, DePaul has maintained a reputation as an independent before joining the Great Midwest Conference in 1991. In 1995, this conference merged with the Metro Conference to form Conference USA, which held strong until 2005 when DePaul left for the Big East and remained there until 2012.
Now in 2013, it is part of the newly-reconfigured Big East. Robert L. Stevenson was the founding leader of DePaul's basketball program, coaching his team to an 8–6 record in just one year at the helm during 1923–24. Harry Adams followed with a 6-13 season before Eddie Anderson took over and led them to success from 1925-1929, with a 37-26 overall mark. In the 2018-2019 season, there was a remarkable turnaround for DePaul as they ended the year with an impressive 19-17 overall record. Under Coach Leitao's guidance during his fourth season at the helm of the team, he propelled them to compete in and reach runner-up status in the post-season tournament 2019 College Basketball Invitational. Despite winning Game 2 against South Florida Bulls, ultimately their series victory was thwarted by dropping Games 1 and 3 consecutively to give DePaul a silver medal finish.
