Sporting Kansas City, formerly known as the Kansas City Wizards, is a professional soccer team based in Kansas City, Missouri. Top players have come through Sporting KC throughout its history with some leaving legacies greater than others such as Kei Kamara who scored 42 regular season goals between 2009-2013 or Jimmy Conrad who was named MLS defender of the year in 2005 while captaining SKC to an appearance in 2004 U. S Open Cup finals where they eventually lost to Chicago Fire 1-0 but gained valuable experience that paid dividends comfortably years later when they finally lifted the major trophy after beating Real Salt Lake at MLS cup 2013 finale by 7 penalties 5-3 scoreline!
