The Southern League's distinguished Rocket City Trash Pandas are a Minor League Baseball team and proudly serve as the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. Situated in Madison, Alabama, Toyota Field is the proud home stadium of their hometown heroes. Making a debut in the playoffs, the Trash Pandas were unable to overcome their opponents and lost 2–1 against Tennessee Smokies during the opening round of the 2022 Southern League playoffs. Andy Schatzley was lauded as the Southern League Manager of the Year, while Chase Silseth earned Pitcher of the Year honors for his remarkable performance.
This August 2023, the Rocket City Trash Pandas will grace the field, accompanied by a familiar face on the mound. However, this time, his aim will deviate from the customary quest for team triumph. Ky Bush, a former pitcher for the Trash Pandas, will now grace the mound on behalf of the Birmingham Barons, aiming to secure a victory against his previous team. Last July 2023, the Angels organization traded Bush to the White Sox organization in a deal that brought them right-handed pitchers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo López. This exchange not only enhances the talent pool for both teams but also strategically aligns their respective rosters. Edgar Quero, a former catcher for the Trash Pandas, was also part of the trade.
