The Midland RockHounds are a Minor League Baseball team that has been playing in the Texas League since 1972. Founded in 1972, the RockHounds play their home games at Security Bank Ballpark located in Midland, Texas. The team has established several rivalries with other teams in their division, including the San Antonio Missions and Corpus Christi Hooks. Over the years, the RockHounds have won multiple awards, including six division championships and four league titles. Heading into the 2025 season, the RockHounds will be led by manager Scott Steinmann who took over for Rodney Linares after he left for a job with the Houston Astros organization. Under Steinmann's leadership, the RockHounds have seen an increase in success as they look to build on their history of excellence. The team is also led by some of Minor League Baseball's top players such as outfielder Skye Bolt who was named to both First Team All-Star and Player of the Year honors last season; pitcher Seth Martinez who was named Pitcher of the Year after recording an impressive 2.68 ERA; catcher Tyler Ramirez who had a .303 batting average last season; infielder Trace Loehr who led all hitters with 17 home runs; and outfielder Luis Barrera who hit 14 home runs and had 50 RBIs last year.
In addition to their successes on the field, the Midland RockHounds are also committed to giving back to their community off it. Each year, they participate in multiple initiatives throughout Midland such as hosting youth baseball clinics and partnering with local organizations to provide food and clothing to those in need. The RockHounds also take pride in their commitment to academic excellence by recognizing student-athletes from around West Texas who excel both on and off the field through their annual Academic All-Star program.
