The Lakeland Flying Tigers, a Minor League Baseball team of the Florida State League and the single-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers are located in Lakeland, Florida. They play their home games at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium. The Flying Tigers are one of the most successful teams in the Florida State League, winning nine championships since their inception in 1962. They have made postseason play 22 times in their history and have appeared in the FSL Championship Series 11 times. The team has produced a number of Major League Baseball players, including Alan Trammell, Kirk Gibson, Lance Parrish, and Jack Morris. After two decades, the Flying Tigers finally won another Florida State League title in 2012.
